The apps listed are just a handful of the best free apps for music, audio and video that work in Android and Apple mobile devices. Many of these free apps are fully functional without additional costs, but some will have a fee to upgrade for more features. Paying the upgrade fee may be worth the small expense (usually a few dollars) if those features make your life easier. For Apple based iPhone apps visit the Apple app store and for Android device apps visit GooglePlay.
Beats Music
Beats Music is an innovative streaming service that combines the top tier music experts to give you the right music at the right time. You have unlimited access to over 20 million songs and free of adds, from every genre. Listen anytime on demand or download to listen offline.
iHeart Radio
iHeart Radio is a free streaming service that allows you access to a library of 20 million plus songs from 450,000 artists. It includes thousands of live radios stations across the US. Also makes it easy to create custom stations--just mention your favorite song and artist.
Pandora
Pandora is also a radio streaming service, similar to iHeart, but with a lot smaller library--about 1 million songs. Pandora is the quality of the artist stations.
Podcasts
With this free app from Apple, you'll have access to hundreds of thousand free podcasts right from your mobile device. You can browse through the featured selections, or just search for what intersets you.
Rdio
Similar to iHeart Radio, Rdio is a free service that offers over 30 millions songs from artist stations to genre for your iPhone, iPod or iPad device. You can even store the songs on your Apple device as long as you have the memory for storage.
Songza
Songza is another free audio streamer offering original playlists by music experts. You can browse a curated playlist for your favoite music, or search for an artist.
Spotify
Spotify lets you listen to music your mobile device. It lets you search for any track, artist or album and listen for free. You can build your collection of favorite music, and even share with others.
Slacker Radio
Slacker Radio offers hundreds of stations with music for every taste. You can also customize for news, sports, talk and weather from ABC, ESPN, American Public Media and The Weather Channel.
Stitcher Radio
Listen to your favorite news, comedy, sports and talk radio shows and podcasts from your mobile device. Offers over 25,000 shows/podcasts from NPR, CNN, Fox, BBC, WSJ, Adam Carolla, Joe Rogan, Rachel Maddow, Rush Limbaugh, Fresh Air, Freakonomics and Radiolab.
