Vipre® Internet Security 2014 from ThreatTrack Security (formerly GFI Software)

By Howard Berenbon

I want to start right out and say Vipre® Internet Security is an amazing program. I have used Vipre in many incarnations over the years and it's never failed protecting my computers. Even earlier versions adequately protected my surfing when others had failed me. Improvements are always welcome and of course necessary when the creeps and criminals on the internet are trying to hijack your computers and steal credit cards or maybe even your identity. So, improvements against the clever new attacks are required. If you’re unsure what anti-virus program to buy to, I highly recommend Vipre.  It’s a great program that does it all, completely protecting your computer while online or even your e-mail.  It also includes a necessary Firewall. With Active Protection it’s always there to stop whatever and whoever is trying to break into your computer, and it doesn’t slow you down, even when it’s updating its definitions. In fact, even with older slower computers, it’s not noticeable. As I’ve said in previous reviews, the “Bad Website alert feature is one of the best tools working in the background.  I do a lot of research on the net, and I know several times a day I’ve been protected from being invaded when Vipre warns “with a message saying “don’t enter that bad Website” and I listen. I think one of the major problems surfing is going to a site that enters malicious code without you ever knowing.  This bad Website warning heads off problems.  Though, if a threat does get through, Vipre’s defenses will kick in and kick out the invader.   But, it’s best if you can stop it from entering. In the past 2 years of using Vipre, I have had no major threats, and that’s my reason for sticking with Vipre for protection.
