Youtubers Get a Break on Music Copyright Claims

Having a Youtube channel in 2019 can be challenging. First of all, because of the changes in requirements in 2018, it's difficult to get monetized. Goggle now requires that your channel has 1,000 plus subscribers and 4,000 hours of views per year to get ads that will pay you royalties. If you get to that level, great! But there are other obstacles you must learn to overcome while you're building your Youtube presence. Let's say you daily or weekly blog and you're in the mall and record an interesting event that you feel your followers will like. Prior to August of 2019, you would be subject to copyright claims if your video has background music and the owners flag it. When this happens, often, you can leave the video up, but the copyright owner gets any revenue from that video. This is called Manual Claiming. Well, the new changes protect you from incidental claims for background music that was not intentionally added to your work.
