Super Iron-Ons Kit and Super Create-A-Book Kit on CD-ROM from PrintPaks, Inc.

If you have a color printer and kids who like to get creative with the help of the computer then you should consider the Super Kits from PrintPaks, Inc. These products are crafts in a box that include all necessary materials and software on CD to turn your PC or Mac into a craft creator. Create window art, magnets, calendars, books, party paraphernalia, holiday ornaments, pop-up greeting cards, pinwheels, T-shirt iron-ons and more. Each kit includes the necessary components to complete one or more projects with step-by-step animated instructions on CD. My 5-year-old daughter, Sarah, was excited to see the PrintPaks and couldn't wait to get her hands on the CD. I did have to restrain her, though, since we haven't purchased a color printer, which will make these projects come to life. Next month we'll be making T-shirt transfers and books, but this month we can only play with the software.

Super Iron-Ons Kit

Now your kids can create transfers for T-shirts with the help of PrintPaks Super Iron-Ons Kit. Everything is included to complete four iron-on transfers using your inkjet printer. The materials include one T-shirt, the transfer paper, glow-in-the-dark fabric paint and a paint brush plus a CD filled with photos, fonts, rubber stamps, art, software and animated instructions. You can even include your own photos. In fact, if you don't already have your photos as graphics files, a company called In.Digit will transfer 12 shots to CD for $20 plus shipping and handling.

Super Create-A-Book Kit

The Create-A-Book craft is a great idea. It includes the book covers, paper, binding and string, buttons, pencils, an eraser as well as the CD filled with photos, art and the step-by-step animated instructions, enough stuff to complete three books. Sarah was ready to write her second book, but this time using Super Create-A-Book. Last week I helped her write and illustrate her very first book on her favorite subject, The Magic School Bus by Scholastic, using pencil, paper, crayons and staples. We hope to publish a second, and more polished, edition using the PrintPak.

The Super Iron-Ons Kit and Super Create-A-Book Kit sell for $24.95 each. They will run on any 486 or faster IBM compatible multimedia computer and Apple Macintosh 68030 or faster multimedia computer. They require double-speed CD-ROM drives or faster, 8 megabytes of RAM, 10 megabytes of free disk space and a color or monochrome inkjet printer. A color printer is recommended for the best effects.
