TeLL me More Premium Collection, for Learning German, Dutch, Spanish, English, French, Italian, Arabic, Chinese and Japanese

If you or your kids are interested in learning a German, Dutch, Spanish, English, French, Italian, Arabic, Japanese or even Chinese, you should consider one of the TeLL me More Premium Collection language learning packages from Auralog, Inc.  They offer a throughout language study course for beginner, intermediate and advanced studies all in one package, and they give you a headset with microphone so you can interact with the lessons using speech recognition.  The software also includes a Cultural Workshop so you can learn the culture of the people in the various countries speaking the language.  And it incorporates graphics, animation, voice and sounds to help you learn.

The Spanish package includes 5 program CDs, a small Users Manual with installation instructions and a very nice looking headset with microphone.  You’ll find four course CDs: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, Latin America and a program installation CD.  The French package includes 4 program CDs. After a fairly quick installation (about 1 minute), you’ll be ready to tackle the language of your choice.  In our case (meaning me and my 10-year-old daughter Becky), we reviewed the French and Spanish courses.

Each language course covers speaking, listening, writing, pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar in their Workshop format, and includes interactive videos with up to 1000 hours of learning plus thousands of exercises (the French course offers 750 hours of learning with over 3,600 exercises). And in their newest versions, they offer their Dynamic Mode, which analyses your progress and adjusts the next activities according to your results.

You should begin by running their demonstration.  It will give you a quick overview of what the language course offers.  Then you can jump in and start learning.  Well, not so fast.  You’ll first need to insert the lesson CD:  Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced. Your first lesson is to find the meaning of those words in the language you’re studying.  The beginner CD in French is called DEBUTANT and the Spanish word for beginner is PRINCIPIANTE. After entering the CD, the program will automatically start and if it’s your first time, you’ll need to register.  Then a new screen appears where you’ll choose the mode of operation: Free to Roam Mode, Guided Mode or Dynamic Mode.  I selected Dynamic Mode to begin and finally jumped into my first lesson.  While you’re leaning, you’ll find help always available, either in pop up screens or from within the lesson.  The lessons use video and audio and require your response.  If you don’t understand what you’re reading or hearing, you can hit a button for the translation, or repeat the question before you go on to the next lesson.

TeLL me More Premium Collection offers the student a very complete language course with numerous lessons and hours and hours of learning.  If you’re determined to learn a language, you’ll find this program series a great way to start.

TeLL me More Premium Collection sells for from $195 to $329 and will run on any multimedia PC, Intel Celeron 333 MHz or faster processor, 64 MB RAM with Windows 95/98/NT4/ME/2000/XP, any video card and an 8X or faster CD-ROM drive.  For more information or to order, visit Auralog.com.  You'll get a 5 percent discount if you order through their Website.
